Vehicle Instrumentation Pod (VIP)

How fast are your hole shots? Have you measured your start gate response time? Are you utilizing your bike's maximum horsepower? Is your bike being operated in the temperature range for optimum engine efficiency? These questions and many more are answered by motorcycle data recorded by the VIP.

Histogram Chart

The VIP Data Logger records your motorcycle's engine RPM, rear wheel speed, coolant temperature, and lap/split time data. Engine RPM and rear wheel speed data are used to calculate the gear the transmission is in.

Following a race or practice session, the VIP is removed from the bike and plugged into a personal computer. The VIP Viewer Software is then used to download the recorded event to the strip chart displays. "Easy To Use" was the emphasis when the Vip Viewer Software was designed; you don't need a PhD to run it.

The VIP works together with the Holeshot Race Gate from Risk Racing (www.riskracing.com) to provide start gate response times. This measurement is the time difference from when the start gate pin is pulled to when the rear wheel just begins to spin. Response time is measured with 1/100 of a second resolution.

The recorded motorcycle data provides the rider and the mechanic with information that shows if the engine is being operated in the maximum part of the horsepower curve, transmission shifting points, and rear wheel hook-up, spin, and speed. This information can assist the rider in advancing his/her skills and can help the mechanic in setting up the bike. All of this is aimed at getting better holeshots, reducing lap times, and improving finishes.

This system is available for the following motorcycles:

2006 - 2009 Honda CRF250R / 450R
2006 - 2009 Kawasaki KXF250 / 450
2006 - 2009 Suzuki RMZ250 / 450
2006 - 2009 Yamaha YZF250 / 450

If your motorcycle does not appear on this list, please contact us to set up operational testing on your bike
